Weidner, William P.
Mr. Weidner has served as president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) since December of 1995. A veteran hospitality industry executive, Mr. Weidner's responsibilities include directing all development activities of the company, including the planning, financing, construction and implementation stages.
Mr. Weidner has been instrumental in the planning, creation, and operation of all Las Vegas Sands Corp. properties - including The Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada and the Sands Macao in the People's Republic of China (PRC) Special Administrative Region of Macao.
Additionally, Mr. Weidner has been the driving force behind the company's efforts to land much- sought after business opportunities across the globe. He spearheaded the effort that won the right for the company to operate in Macao and negotiated the agreements for the company's developments there - including a master-planned development of resort casino properties. The development will be located on the Cotai Strip(tm) in Macao and serve as the home of The Venetian Macao - a larger-scale replica of its Las Vegas sister property.
Mr. Weidner also pursued government approval to master-plan a multi-faceted resort and commercial development on Hengqin Island in the PRC. He was also the driving force behind the company's successful efforts to win coveted gaming licenses in Singapore and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Weidner is presently a member of the Board of Directors for several Las Vegas Sands entities as well as a member of the Board for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Clark County Public Education Foundation, Nevada Policy Research Institute, Teatro La Fenice, and the Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson Clinic for Drug Abuse Treatment and Research.
In addition to an M.B.A., Mr. Weidner, a Northville, Michigan native, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Hotel Administration from Michigan State University. He is married to the former Lynn Hackerman of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey and they now reside at Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada.
